These terms apply when you use this website or ask Star Key & Remote (“we,” “us” or “our”) to do a job. By using the site or booking a service, you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, call us before you book and we’ll explain.
Using this website
You’re welcome to use this website to learn about our services and to contact us. Please don’t misuse it: no spam or fake quote requests, no attempts to break into or disrupt the site, and no copying our content for commercial use without our permission. We may block anyone who misuses the site.
Our services
Star Key & Remote is a mobile car locksmith serving North Dallas and nearby cities. We help with car lockouts, car key replacement and programming, key fobs and remotes, smart keys, transponder keys, spare keys, broken key extraction, ignition repair and car door lock repair. We work during our business hours, Monday–Saturday, 9 AM–5 PM. Any arrival time we give you is our best estimate; traffic and earlier jobs can affect it, and we’ll keep you informed if plans change.
Quotes and estimates
We give you a quote before any work starts, based on what you tell us: the vehicle’s year, make and model, the key or lock involved and the service you need. A quote is an estimate until we’ve confirmed those details at the vehicle. If the vehicle needs a different key, part or process than expected, we’ll explain the change and ask for your OK before we continue. You can decide not to go ahead at that point.
ID and proof of ownership
For your security, we check ID and proof of ownership before we make or program a key or remote, or open a vehicle. We’ll ask to see:
- a valid government-issued photo ID, and
- the vehicle’s registration, title or insurance card in the same name
If the vehicle belongs to someone else, such as a family member, an employer, or a leasing or rental company, we may ask for written permission from the owner. If your documents are locked inside the vehicle, we can check them once it’s open, before we finish the job. If we can’t verify ownership, we won’t do the work.
When we may decline a job
We may decline a job, or stop one we’ve started, if:
- we can’t confirm that you own the vehicle or are authorized to have the work done
- the vehicle needs dealer-only parts, software or security codes
- the location isn’t safe, or we don’t have permission to access the vehicle where it’s parked
- a lock, ignition or key system is damaged in a way that makes the work unsafe or unlikely to succeed
- anyone at the job is abusive or threatening
If we decline or stop a job, we’ll explain why.
Your responsibilities
When you book a job, please:
- give us accurate information about the vehicle and what you need
- be at the vehicle, or have an authorized person there, when we arrive
- make sure we can reach the vehicle safely and legally
- tell us about anything that may affect the work, such as an aftermarket alarm or remote starter, previous repairs, or warning lights on the dashboard
- check the work before we leave, and tell us right away if something isn’t working
Vehicles and keys we can’t do on site
We work on most makes and models, but not every vehicle or key can be done on site. Some keys and parts have to be ordered, some vehicles need dealer-only software or security codes, and some problems go beyond locks and keys. Aftermarket or damaged electrical systems can also prevent a key from being programmed. When we know about a limitation in advance, we’ll tell you before we come out. If we find one at the vehicle, we’ll explain your options.
Payment
Payment is due when the job is done and you’ve had a chance to check the work. We’ll confirm the payment methods we accept when you book. The amount due will match your quote unless you agreed to a change during the job.
Limitation of liability
We take care with every vehicle we work on. If you think something has gone wrong because of our work, tell us as soon as possible so we can look into it.
To the fullest extent allowed by Texas law:
- we are not responsible for problems that existed before we started, such as worn locks or ignitions, electrical faults, weak batteries or earlier repairs
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost time, lost income, towing or rental costs
- our total liability for any claim related to a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under Texas law that can’t be limited by agreement.
