Car keys aren’t just pieces of metal anymore. Most have a transponder chip, many have remote buttons built in, and a lot of newer blades are laser-cut. Replacing one means two jobs: cutting the blade to fit your locks and programming the electronics to your car. We do both at your vehicle, so you get a working key without towing the car anywhere.
When it’s time for a new key
- The key is worn and only works if you jiggle it
- The blade is bent, cracked or has snapped (if a piece is stuck in a lock, see broken key extraction)
- The car won’t start with the key, even though the remote buttons still work
- The case is falling apart and the buttons have worn through

Keys we replace
Transponder keys
Keys with a chip that talks to your car’s immobilizer. We cut the blade and program the chip so the engine starts. Read more about transponder chip keys.
Remote-head and flip keys
Keys with lock and unlock buttons built into the head, including flip keys. We cut the blade and program both the remote and the chip.
High-security laser-cut keys
Also called sidewinder or internal-cut keys, these have a groove milled along the middle of the blade instead of notches on the edge. They need a dedicated cutting machine, and we cut them too.
Push-to-start smart keys

How it works
- Call us with the year, make and model, and describe the key you have now.
- Get a clear quote. We confirm the right key for your vehicle and whether we can make it on site.
- We meet you at the car and check your photo ID and proof of ownership.
- We cut and program the new key, then test the ignition, the door locks and every button with you.
What to have ready
- The year, make and model, plus the VIN if you can find it — it’s visible through the windshield on the driver’s side and printed on your registration and insurance card
- Your current key, if you still have one
- Photo ID and your registration, title or insurance card
Good to know
Some vehicles need parts or security codes that only the dealer can supply. If yours is one of them, we’ll tell you when you call — before anyone drives out.

Can you replace a car key without the original?
Yes, in most cases. If you have no working key at all, we make a new one from the vehicle’s details — usually the VIN or the locks — and program it at the car. Our lost car key replacement page explains how it works.
Will the new key work like my original?
It should start the car and, if it has buttons, lock and unlock the doors just like the original. We test every function with you before we leave, so you know it works.
Do you make laser-cut or sidewinder keys?
Yes. Laser-cut keys have a groove cut along the middle of the blade instead of notches on the edge. Tell us the year, make and model and we’ll confirm we can cut and program yours before we come out.
Do I need to bring the car to you?
No. We’re mobile, so we come to your vehicle at home, at work or wherever it’s parked in our service area.
