Push-to-Start Smart Keys in North Dallas

Need a spare smart key, or lost the only one you had? We add and replace proximity keys for push-to-start vehicles at your location, then test keyless entry and the start button with you.

  • Spare and replacement smart keys
  • Programmed at your vehicle in most cases
  • Hidden key blade cut to fit
  • Tested before we leave

With a smart key, the key stays in your pocket or bag. The car senses it nearby, so you can unlock the doors and start the engine with a button. That convenience depends on the key being programmed to your car — and if you’re down to one key, it’s worth getting a second before a lost key turns into a bigger job.

Adding a spare or replacing a lost key

You still have a working smart key

Adding a second key is usually the simpler job. We program the new key alongside your existing one, and both keep working.

Every smart key is lost

We can still help in most cases. We identify the right key from your vehicle’s details and program it to the car. On many models this also removes the lost keys from the car’s memory. Our lost car key replacement page explains the process.

How it works

  1. Call us with the year, make and model, and tell us whether you still have a working smart key.
  2. Get a clear quote. We confirm the right key for your vehicle before any work starts.
  3. We meet you at the car, check your ID and proof of ownership, and program the new key.
  4. We cut the hidden key blade to fit your door lock.
  5. We test everything — keyless entry, the trunk and push-button start — with you.

What to have ready

  • The year, make and model, plus the VIN if it’s handy
  • Every smart key you still have for the car
  • Photo ID and proof of ownership

Good to know

Your smart key has a hidden blade

Most smart keys hide a small mechanical key inside the fob. It opens the driver’s door if the fob battery dies, so it’s worth finding before you need it.

When the fob battery dies

On many push-to-start cars you can still start the engine by holding the fob against the start button or placing it in a backup slot. Your owner’s manual shows where it goes on your model.

Down to one smart key?

Many push-to-start cars come with two smart keys. If you’re down to one, adding a second now is usually quicker and simpler than replacing the last one after it’s lost — and it means there’s a spare at home when you need it.

Store your keys away from the door

Keyless-entry cars can be targeted by relay theft, where a signal from a key inside the house is boosted to the car. Keeping keys away from doors and windows, or in a signal-blocking pouch, lowers the risk.

Some models need the dealer

A few vehicles need dealer-only parts or online security access before a key can be added. If yours is one of them, we’ll tell you up front.

Can you program a smart key without the original?

In most cases, yes. If every smart key is lost, we identify the right key from your vehicle’s details and program it to the car. It takes longer than adding a spare, and a few models need dealer-only access — we’ll confirm when you call.

Will my existing smart key still work?

It should. When we add a new key, we check that your existing keys still work before we leave. If a key has been lost or stolen, we can usually remove it from the car instead.

Why does my car say “key not detected”?

Usually the fob battery is weak, something is blocking the signal, or the key has lost its programming. Try a fresh battery first. If the message keeps coming back, call us and we’ll check the key.
