Lost Car Key Replacement in North Dallas
Lost your only car key? Don’t book a tow to the dealer yet. In most cases we can make a brand-new key from your vehicle’s details and program it right where the car is parked.
- New key when every key is lost
- Made from your VIN or locks in most cases
- No tow to the dealer
- Lost keys erased on many models
Losing every key to your car feels like a big problem, and going through the dealer can make it bigger: a tow, a wait for parts and a service appointment. As a mobile car locksmith, we can usually skip all of that and make your new key at the vehicle — cut, programmed and tested without the car leaving its parking spot.
How we make a key when every key is lost
Without a key to copy, we work from the car itself.
- Identify the vehicle. The year, make, model and VIN tell us which key and chip your car needs.
- Cut the blade. We get the cuts from the vehicle’s key code or by decoding one of its locks.
- Program the key. The chip — and the remote, if there is one — is programmed to your car’s immobilizer.
- Erase the lost keys where the vehicle allows it, so they can’t start the car.
- Test everything with you before we leave.
What to have ready
- The year, make and model
- The VIN — look through the windshield at the bottom corner on the driver’s side, on the sticker in the driver’s door jamb, or on your registration or insurance card
- Your photo ID and proof of ownership: registration, title or insurance card
- The car’s location, and whether it’s locked
- Any gate code or parking details we’ll need to reach the car
Because we’re making a key from scratch, the ID and ownership check isn’t optional. It protects you, and it protects every other car owner too.
Good to know
Check the usual spots first
Before you call, it’s worth checking coat pockets and bags, the car’s door locks and ignition, and the last place you stopped. If you think the keys were stolen rather than lost, tell us when you call — it changes what we recommend.
It takes longer than a spare
Making a key with no original involves more steps than copying one, so plan for a longer visit. We’ll give you an idea of timing when you call.
A few vehicles need the dealer
Some vehicles need security codes, software or parts that only the dealer can provide. If yours is one of them, we’ll let you know before we come out.
Locked out as well?
If the car is locked, we can open it first. See our car lockout service.
Then get a spare
Once you have a working key again, think about a spare key. Copying a working key is much simpler than starting from scratch again.

Mon – Sat 9 AM – 5 PM · Sun Closed
Can you make a car key from the VIN?
The VIN tells us exactly which key and chip your car uses, and for many vehicles it lets us look up the key code to cut the blade. The new key still has to be programmed at the car, and we check your ID and proof of ownership before we start.
What if my keys were stolen?
Tell us when you call. On many vehicles we can erase the stolen keys from the car’s memory so they won’t start the engine. The metal blade may still fit the door locks, so ask us about your options for the locks too.
How long does it take when all the keys are lost?
Longer than copying a working key, because we start from scratch. The time depends on the vehicle and the type of key — we’ll give you a realistic idea when you call.
Do I need to tow my car to the dealer?
Usually not. We make the key where the car is parked. If your vehicle needs dealer-only parts or software, we’ll tell you up front.
