Remote stopped working, lost a fob or need an extra one? We supply and program replacement key fobs and flip keys at your vehicle, and we replace worn shells and weak batteries too.
- Replacement fobs and flip keys
- Programmed and tested at your vehicle
- Battery and shell replacement
- Clear quote before we start
Your key fob does a lot: it locks and unlocks the doors, pops the trunk and, on many cars, carries the chip that lets the engine start. When it stops working, the cause isn’t always a dead battery — but sometimes it is, and if that’s all it needs, we’ll tell you.
What we can help with
- Replacement fobs and remotes for ones that are lost, broken or water-damaged
- Flip keys, with the remote and key blade in one, cut and programmed together
- Reprogramming a remote that has lost its connection to the car
- Battery replacement for fobs that have gone weak
- New shells and cases when the buttons wear through or the case cracks, keeping your working electronics where possible
- Extra fobs, so every driver in the house has one
Signs your fob needs attention
- You have to stand right next to the car for the buttons to work
- Only some of the buttons respond
- The dashboard shows a low key battery message
- The case is cracked, or the key blade is loose
How it works
- Tell us the year, make and model, and what the fob is doing — or not doing.
- Get a clear quote. We confirm the right remote for your vehicle first.
- We meet you at the car, check your ID and proof of ownership, and program the fob.
- We test every button — lock, unlock, trunk and panic — with you before we leave.
What to have ready
- The year, make and model
- Every fob and key you have for the car
- The part number from your current fob, if one is printed on it
- Photo ID and proof of ownership
Good to know
Changing the battery yourself
Most fobs use a coin battery you can buy at a pharmacy or hardware store. Match the number printed on the old battery, and note which way it faces before you take it out. If the fob still doesn’t work with a fresh battery, it probably needs reprogramming.
Bring every fob you have
On many vehicles, programming a new remote means reprogramming all of them together. Any fob that isn’t there may stop working, so bring every one you want to keep using.
Remotes and smart keys aren’t the same
If your car starts with a button while the key stays in your pocket, you have a smart key. See push-to-start smart keys.
Some remotes need the dealer
Most remotes can be programmed at your vehicle. A few need dealer software or parts — if yours does, we’ll say so before we come out.

Is my key fob broken, or is it just the battery?
If the range has slowly gotten shorter, or the buttons only work some of the time, a new battery often fixes it. If a fresh battery doesn’t help, the fob may need reprogramming or replacing. Call us and we’ll help you figure out which.
Can you replace just the case on my fob?
Often, yes. If the electronics still work but the case is cracked or the buttons have worn through, we can move them into a new shell. If the circuit board is damaged, we’ll suggest a replacement fob instead.
Can you program a fob I bought online?
Sometimes. Fobs bought online are often the wrong part number or frequency, or are already locked to another car. Tell us the part number when you call and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s worth trying.
Do you program flip keys?
Yes. We cut the blade to fit your car, program both the remote buttons and the chip inside, and test them with you.
