Spare Car Key Duplication in North Dallas
The best time to get a spare car key is while you still have one that works. We cut and program a copy at your home or workplace, so there’s always a backup in the drawer.
- Copies of your working key
- Chip and remote programmed
- We come to your home or work
- Tested before we leave
Most people only think about a spare key once the last one is gone. By then the job is bigger: no key to copy, more steps and more time. Making a spare from a key that works is usually one of the simplest jobs we do.
Why get a spare now
- Lockouts are easier when someone can bring the spare, or you know exactly where it is.
- Losing a key is less stressful when it isn’t your only one.
- Shared cars run smoother when every driver has a key of their own.
- Used cars often come with one key, so a spare is worth sorting out early.
Keys we copy
- Transponder chip keys, cut and then programmed or cloned so the car starts
- Remote-head and flip keys, including the blade, the chip and the buttons
- High-security laser-cut keys
- Smart keys for push-to-start cars — see push-to-start smart keys
- Older keys without a chip
How it works
- Call us with the year, make and model, and tell us what your key looks like: plain blade, flip key, remote or smart key.
- Get a clear quote. We confirm we can copy your key on site.
- We meet you at the car, check your ID and proof of ownership, then cut and program the spare.
- We test the spare — doors, ignition and buttons — along with your original key.
What to have ready
- Your working key, plus any other keys for the car
- Every remote you want to keep using — on some vehicles, adding a key means reprogramming the others too
- The year, make and model
- Photo ID and proof of ownership
Good to know
Copying a worn key copies the wear
If your only key is badly worn, an exact copy will be worn too. Where the vehicle allows it, we can cut a fresh key to the original specification from its key code instead, so the new key works more smoothly than the old one.
Copying beats starting over
A spare made from a working key is usually quicker and simpler than replacing keys after they’re all lost. If that has already happened, see lost car key replacement.
Why we check ID for spares too
Anyone with a copy of your key has access to your car. That’s why we only make keys for the vehicle’s owner, or for someone the owner has authorized.
Keep the spare out of the car
A spare in the glove box doesn’t help when the doors are locked — and it does help a thief. Keep it somewhere safe at home.

Can you copy a key with a chip in it?
Yes. We cut the blade and either program a new chip to your car or clone the chip from your existing key, depending on the vehicle. Either way, we test that the spare starts the car.
Do you need my car to make a spare?
In most cases, yes. The spare has to be programmed to the vehicle and tested on it, which is why we come to where the car is parked.
Can you make a spare smart key?
For many push-to-start vehicles, yes. Adding a spare smart key to a car that already has a working one is usually straightforward. Tell us the year, make and model and we’ll confirm.
